The James Beard Award finalists have been announced, and Oregon’s top chefs are once again in the national spotlight.

The James Beard Award finalists were announced on Wednesday, April 2 in Los Angeles. For the Best Chef: Northwest and Pacific award, three Oregonians stayed in the running. Joshua Dorcak of MÄS in Ashland, Ryan Roadhouse of Nodoguro in Portland, and Timothy Wastell of Antica Terra in Amity advanced.

On April 3 the James Beard Foundation announced the 2024 Restaurant and Chef Award nominees and the honorees of the Leadership Awards, Humanitarian of the Year Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award at a live ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC in Washington, D.C.

THE JAMES BEARD AWARDS are the Oscars of food. If you are nominated, the name “James Beard” will appear before yours in your own obituary; the only way out of this is by winning an actual Oscar. Eleven Oregon chefs and restaurants were named semifinalists this morning. Finalists will be announced on April 3, and winners on June 10.
